Silver Leadership

Silver Leadership Hazleton is a program designed to give retired and semi-retired citizens of the Hazleton area an in-depth view of the past, present and future of the Greater Hazleton area by taking them into the community, introducing them to the people who make it work, and encouraging them to investigate different sides of issues which concern them.

During the annual session of Silver Leadership, five half-day sessions are held in a variety of locations from September through October. Each session focuses on different trends, strengths and weaknesses of the Greater Hazleton area. The final session of Silver Leadership is a celebratory luncheon during which the participants reflect on their Leadership experience.

The goal of Silver Leadership is to help seniors create new pathways for their retirement years by linking knowledge gained through the program with their experience and skills. We believe that retirees can offer a wealth of knowledge, experience, leadership and vitality to their communities, while enriching their own lives.

"Silver Leadership Hazleton" offers area seniors the opportunity to:
---Meet new friends who share the same intellectual curiosity
---Receive up-to-date information on community issues from community leaders, presentations and local "field trips"
---Find fulfillment in searching out new ways to serve the community through informed leadership
---Discuss challenges and opportunities in a congenial setting
---Gain insight into leadership styles and abilities
---Hear experts on a variety of issues of interest to seniors
---Learn about volunteer opportunities and enrichment programs
---Discover new ways to use their talents and energies
